Bluebonnet School Summer Camp

Bluebonnet knows that summer day camp should be fun and friendly, making children’s summer a happy time. But more than, it should be an opportunity to reinforce the learning skills just mastered in the school year. Keeping bodies active and minds constantly working and thinking is our goal for children at Bluebonnet Summer Camp. Our six distinct sessions all promise fun and opportunities to grasp new skills and try mental challenges in a team setting. Take a look at the activities, camp visitors and field trips we have planned for each session below.

Futuristic Fun

May 29 - June 8 (Closed for Memorial Day May 28)

Campers are challenged to develop hypotheses, then test and examine data and then draw scientific conclusions. Campers will learn to defy gravity with the help of magnets. They will learn eco focused science techniques including water conservation and creating their own eco system. Campers have a chance to put their ideas to the test as the become real innovators. A visit from Mad Science is one of the highlights.

 

Sports Adventures

June 11 - June 22

Making a meaningful connection in daily life to sports record keeping, scoring points, and even a body’s movement, using math and basic physics is presented. Campers will enjoy playing sports on our spacious athletic fields. These two sports weeks allow campers to learn the importance of teamwork, courage, perseverance and overcoming adversity. Our exciting field trips will take us to DK Royal Memorial Stadium and the Round Rock Express baseball facility. We will even have a visit from a professional athlete to tell us more about living with sports every day.

The Arts: Follow Your Dream

June 25 - July 6 (Closed Wednesday, July 4)

A variety of arts are the focus of this topic. Campers will have a project each day to immerse them in a variety of arts to empower their imaginations through music, visual art and even the theater arts with a trip to see a live play at the Pollyanna Theatre. They will visit a contemporary art museum and enjoy the visit from a professional musician and a local artist to lead a painting session.

 

Full Throttle . . . 1-2-3 Go

July 9 - July 20

We’re off to the races in this fast-paced session. Campers will explore the wide world of racing as they dive into the concepts behind what makes cars go fast. They will learn about acceleration, de-acceleration, force and speed. They will be given the opportunity to be engineers as they design and create their own race cars and race track. A local race car driver and instructor will visit with the group. A highlight of the session will be a visit to the world famous Circuit of the Americas racing facility.

 

Culinary Crafters

July 23 - August 3

Campers will enjoy learning, laughing and making new friends all over delicious feel in this session inspired by Top Chef. Each day they will be learning steps of creating dishes, culminating in their final culinary masterpiece. The basics of cleaning and preparing ingredients are essential to success in the kitchen. They will create a dish of their own, meet a visiting chef, and will get an exclusive look at how restaurants work as they tour a local restaurant.

 

Creative Coding for Kids

August 6 - August 15 (Closed for tttaff Development, August 10. LIttD & RRIttD begin Aug. 16)

Building a moveable robot will have campers working together to learn coding and the mechanics that bring technology to life. This will include design, keeping notes, programming and learning how engineers apply coding to real life. Campers will visit EA Games to learn how electronic games are made. Our visitors this session will be GAMES2U, providing a wide range of fun video games for the group.
