A STAR-SPANGLED INDEPENDENCE at Pioneer Farms

Our star-spangled Independence festival this year will will feature an array of frontier Texas fun — an 1800s cannon show, Wild West re-enactors, a 19th century magic show, historical reenactments at our history sites, frontier skill contests, children’s games and crafts, live music, yummy food, new exhibits and colorful flag displays.

There will also be artisans and other old Texas activities at our 1800s sites — including sneak previews of our ongoing reconstruction of an 1850s stone blockhouse and the 1890s Dodson Farmhouse, home to one of Texas’ Freedom Colony leaders after the Civil War.
The day will be Austin’s version of a midsummer festival, a popular activity in the late 1800s. Regular admission will be charged, an old-fashioned Texas bargain. Sponsored by our friends at Big Red Soda and 7Up.
