Hard Labor Hike - Lockhart State Park

Hear the story of the Civilian Conservation Corps and discover their legacy in this engaging hike! Registration required. Back breaking labor, long days in all types of conditions, and an insatiable urge to give an honest day’s work were the hallmarks of the CCC program. Join a Master Naturalist to hear the exciting story, and see the legacy these boys left behind! All ages welcome.

Registration: Program is limited to 10 participants, so registration is required. Please call park HQ at 512-398-3479 during business hours (8am-5pm daily) to register for this program.  

Prepare: Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Masks are highly encouraged. Bring water and apply sunscreen or bug repellent, as needed. The hike is 3/4-mile on moderate terrain. 

Meet: Meet your guide at the Creekview Trailhead. If driving from park headquarters, take your first left-hand turn, pass the campgrounds, and park along the paved loop.

Fees: This program is free with paid entry to the park. Regular park entrance fees are $3/adult, free for children 12 & under.
