NCJW Annual Chanukah Party

*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 12/06/2018
Our NCJW Annual Chanukah Party is Thursday, December 6th at 7:00pm in Northwest Hills. The location of the event will be given after you rsvp. Chanukah food, desserts, and beverages will be served, and you do not have to be an NCJW member to attend. This is one of our most fun and popular events every year, and this year should be no different. It is open to non-NCJW members, but an RSVP is required.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

There is no cost but we are asking our Chanukah party guests to bring items for care bags that will be given to trafficking survivors. The items requested are shirts, tights, socks, blankets, small notepads and pens, gift cards to local grocery and clothing stores, flip flops, reusable bottles for water, hand sanitizer, deodorant, sanitary pads, and wipes.

Guest speaker Rachel Alvarez from Refugee Services of Texas will talk about their Survivors of Trafficking Empowerment Program and how we can get involved.

Rachel Alvarez is the Senior Programs Manager for anti-trafficking efforts with Refugee Services of Texas. Rachel’s work with trafficking survivors and victims began in 2010 where she worked with anti-trafficking NGO’s in Latin America and South East Asia; here, she accumulated valuable experience in understanding the global dimensions of trafficking and the plight of victims. Since 2011 in Texas, Rachel has worked in refugee resettlement agencies’ anti-trafficking programs, funded by Department of Justice and Department of Health and Human Services. She has and continues to work along side law enforcement in different sting operations; she assists victims upon identification from first responders; and she has assisted survivors in testifying against their trafficker in federal and state level prosecutions. Rachel now helps manage 5 anti-trafficking programs in Texas, providing staff training and direct services to foreign born and U.S. citizen victims/survivors. Rachel’s main goal in her work is to empower and help survivors in their journey of attaining independent and self-sufficient lives.

Click here to RSVP by December 3rd.
