Texas Science & Natural History Museum tells the story of life in the natural world in Texas, from the formation of our planet, through the age of the dinosaurs, into our current environment.

Located on the campus of UT Austin, the museum engages, excites and connects curious minds of all ages to the unique and irreplaceable natural history of Texas.

Formerly known as the Texas Memorial Museum, the recently reopened Texas Science & Natural History Museum brings back long-time favorite exhibits as well as newly updated experiences. On the main floor/Great Hall, the new Texas Titans exhibit introduces life in Texas 67 million years ago – when dinosaurs and other reptiles dominated the Earth. Meet Quetzalcoatlus northropi, a pterosaur with a 33-foot wingspan, and a tyrannosaur, also 33-feet long. Texas Transformation offers an overview of 600+ million years of life with stunning imagery, newly exhibited fossils, and a paleogeographic time-lapse providing context for Texas’ shifting geological and environmental identity.

On the third floor, the Texas Wildlife Gallery, the museum’s legacy diorama displays, showcases the diverse animals and ecosystems of Texas. The first-floor Paleontology Gallery houses a wide variety of fossils, including the 30-foot Onion Creek Mosasaur and a glyptodont, a giant armadillo-like creature! Find fascinating rock, mineral, and meteorite specimens in the Geology Gallery. These exhibit galleries will receive new interpretive signage and interactive displays in 2024-25.

The museum gift store features a wide variety of science and nature-themed toys, games, books, puzzles, and more.

Visit the website to find information to plan a visit. Texas Science & Natural History Museum is also available for group visits and field trips!
