San Antonio Zoo kicks off Zoo Boo! Presented by Valero Benefit for Children, Saturday, September 17! The zoo’s annual Halloween celebration is a fun, non-scary daytime Halloween event for the entire family and will be offered daily through Monday, October 31.
Guests can start their day with a Halloween-inspired singalong as the San Antonio Zoo Train transforms into the Scarecrow Sing-a-long Express. The zoo has multiple realms of Halloween fun, including Bubbling Seas, Dios de los Muertos, and more! Bubbling Seas is an underwater-themed realm complete with undersea decor any pirate or mermaid would love. The Dia de Los Muertos Realm will showcase vibrant décor and live entertainment like mariachis.
A day at Zoo Boo! Presented by Valero Benefit for Children is full of activities with Cowboy’s Dance Parties and Cowboy’s Scavenger Hunt. Using a kids map, children can find all the hidden Cowboy signs around the park and turn their map in for a prize. There will be a daily costume party for all the little ghouls and goblins. The entire family is encouraged to dress up in non-scary family-friendly costumes, but costume masks are only permitted for children 12 and under.
The Trick or Treating Hour provides the grand finale of each day with stations situated throughout the zoo. The zoo distributes only sustainably sourced palm oil-free candy. Palm oil production has been growing rapidly, producing negative effects on rainforests (particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia) and the species that live within them, such as orangutans.
