Austin’s New Year festivities start at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at Vic Mathias Shores and conclude with a fireworks finale at 10.

What to Know

  • We encourage the community to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
  • We’d also like to remind you the event is alcohol-free.
  • Dogs ARE welcome but they must be on a leash.
  • A few street closures will take place at the site and for the fireworks show. Those closures will likely include:
    • Cesar Chavez Street west of Guadalupe Street and the South 1st Street Bridge.
    • Riverside Drive from Lamar Boulevard to South 1st Street.
    • South 1st Street from Riverside Drive to Cesar Chavez Street.
  • Cap Metro will offer free rides on buses and the Metro Rail after 6pm on New Year’s Eve. View Cap Metro's public transit options here.

Plan your route before you head out! Please consider using one of these alternate forms of transportation to and from the event.
 

Parking:

There are a number of parking options near Vic Mathias Shores including...

  • City Hall (301 W. 2nd St.)
  • One Texas Center (505 Barton Springs Rd.)
  • The Convention Center Garage (500 E. Cesar Chavez)
     

Walking:

We strive to create equal access to walking spaces for pedestrians of all ages and abilities. The City works to advance a safe, connected and appealing environment for people navigating our streets. Bicycling:

Riding a bike is a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly way to get around Austin. On-site bike parking will be available. See our Austin Bike Map here.
 

Micromobility:

People who plan to use micromobility services, like scooters and some bikes, should do so in a safe and ethical manner. Please follow these guidelines to help keep Austin moving safely.
 

Get Home Safe:
