Buda Blackout

Buda Blackout is where the Buda community can come to view the rare total solar eclipse on April 8. Join us at the Buda Sportsplex, 310 Buda Sportsplex Drive in Buda from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your youngsters and your lawn chairs to view a phenomenon that last occurred in Central Texas hundreds of years ago. Park Department staff will be onsite to help direct attendees to the appropriate parking areas (general and ADA). [City Hall will close on April 8 from 12:30-2 p.m.]

What's Happening at the Buda Blackout?
- The eclipse starts at about at 12:15 p.m. with totality occurring at about 1:36 p.m.
- Showing of the National Aeronautic and Space Administration's (NASA) broadcast from Kerrville, Texas
- Limited number of certified solar eclipse glasses will be for sale onsite
- Pre-sale certified solar eclipse glasses may be purchased at Buda's Welcome Center at 303 Main Street for $3 per pair with a limit of 2 pair per person.
- Food vendor sales
- Eclipse-related t-shirts in several styles will be for sale
- Buda Public Library-sponsored activities for youth (pinhole, cornhole, scratch art, hula hoops, darts, puzzles, and more)
- Eclipse-curated music playing, and
- Education, comradery and fellowship
Find Out if Your Home Is in the Path of the Eclipse
Use Buda's Solar Eclipse Map to see if your home is in the path of the eclipse. The map is best viewed on a computer or tablet / iPad. In the top left section of the map, enter your physical address. The map will drop a blue pin in the location. Use the "+" and "-" tools in the upper left to zoom in and out. Click the color band of the pin-drop location to see the duration of the total eclipse in that path. A color band menu for eclipse duration also is available on the upper right side of the map. The address of Buda's Sportsplex is 310 Buda Sportsplex Drive, Buda, Tx 78610. Come on out on April 8 to get a good view.
