Close Assault 1968 Vietnam War Living History Program
Help Honor our nation’s Vietnam Veterans, many of whom joined the Guard after their regular Army service, and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day with this look back at the Vietnam War. The free program features members of the Texas Military Forces Living History Detachment exhibiting the uniform and equipment worn by the American soldiers and their Viet Cong and NVA opponents. In addition, the two-day event will provide guests the opportunity to witness blank weapons firing demonstrations and operational military vehicles such as the M14 and M16 Rifles, M60 Machine Gun, M79 Grenade Launcher, M113 and M106 Armored Personnel Carriers, an M151 Jeep and enemy weapons such as the SKS and AK 47 rifles. The program culminates with a recreated ambush and battle.
