Book Drive
Leander Public Arts and Culture is partnering with Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation to host a book drive!
Swing by the LEEF booth to drop off your gently used or new book donations. LEEF has a high need for Pre-K through Kinder level reading and Spanish books.
These donations help LEEF get books into the hands of students and the community. You can help meet the need next school year by bringing books to the event or ordering from LEEF’s Amazon Wishlist: https://bit.ly/LEEFWishlist
Basketball Tournament
Perfect Tyman will be hosting a basketball tournament at Robin Bledsoe Park during the City of Leander’s Juneteenth Block Party. This tournament will feature 8 teams including both winners and losers brackets, ensuring plenty of action for all participants. Each game will last 20 minutes or until a team scores 15 points. Teams can have up to 10 players to maintain high energy levels throughout the games. Additionally, water will be provided to keep everyone hydrated.

About Juneteenth
Juneteenth National Independence Day, which became a federal holiday in 2021, commemorates an end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of both the Civil War and slavery, in accordance with President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth today is a symbol of the human spirit achieving victory over cruelty and oppression, and its anniversary serves to remind us that endurance, determination, and perseverance can change our world for the better.
