Kids Create: Collage Inspired by Romare Bearden
*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 02/11/2026
In celebration of Black History Month, let's create paper collages inspired by Black artist, Romare Bearden.
Romare Bearden was born in North Carolina in 1911 but lived most of his life in Harlem in New York City. He was a self-taught artist and is known for his collages of torn images from magazines. He didn't always want to be an artist, but found his calling during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s and 1930s. He was inspired by many other African American artists, musicians, poets, and writers during this time period. Romare Bearden died in 1988, but he continues to inspire people with his art.
