Teen Night: Writing Workshop

Teens are invited to participate in a writing workshop with authors Jessica Anderson, Bethany Hegedus, and Shelley Jackson. Ages 12-18.

 Jessica Lee Anderson is the author of Trudy, Border Crossing, Calli, and her latest novel, Uncertain Summer, will be released in 2017. She’s published multiple chapter books for Rourke Educational Media to include such titles as Brownies with Benjamin Franklin, Case of Foul Play on a School Day, and Runaway Robot. She's also published fiction and nonfiction with Heinemann, Pearson, Seedling Publications, Six Red Marbles, and a variety of magazines including Highlights for Children. Jessica graduated from Hollins University with a Master of Arts in Children's Literature, and previously instructed at the Institute of Children's Literature and St. Edward's University. She is a member of The Texas Sweethearts & Scoundrels and hopes to be more sweetheart than scoundrel. She lives in Plfugerville with her husband, daughter, and two crazy dogs.

 

Bethany Hegedus' books include Truth with a Capital T (Delacorte/Random House) and Between Us Baxters (WestSide Books). Both novels were named to the Bank Street Books Best Books, with Between Us Baxters garnering a star for outstanding recognition. Her picture book debut Grandfather Gandhi, (Atheneum/Simon & Schuster) co-authored with Arun Gandhi, grandson of the Mahatma, received starred reviews and was Texas Bluebonnet book finalist. Be the Change: A Grandfather Gandhi Story releases in late August, 2016. 

Shelley Ann Jackson is an author/illustrator who holds an MFA in illustration from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has published four books, including the award-winning non-fiction picture book, Little Lions, Bull Baiters & Hunting Hounds: A History of Dog Breeds. Shelley lives with her family and their menagerie of animals—from shrimp to chickens—in Austin, TX.
