The Lone Star Hi-Railers Model Railroad Association of Grapevine, Texas is proud to annouce its' 12th annual model train show Train-A-Palooza to be held in the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St., Grapevine, Texas on March 14 and 15, 2026. According to the model railroad club, the event has grown to be one of the largest train shows in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. The Lone Star Hi-Railers is the largest model club in the State of Texas according to Jim Shepherd, its' President.
Jim Shepherd stated that the previous train show was so successful that 100% of the vendors signed up a year in advance for the upcoming Train-A-Palooza #12. We are pleased with the growth and expansion of the event.
The event is set to attract model train enthusiasts from all over the State of Texas as well as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Kansas. Vendors will include club members, private individuals and companies who sell model trains, toys and accessories. This year, attendees coming from the TexRail commuter train station can ride free shuttle bus according to Shepherd, the club has commitments from The Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco, Texas. Along with other working model train layouts, the Trainworx will have its' working model train layout. The Lone Star Hi-Railers will their new "O" gauge layout running five trains at the show.
Choo Choo Express train will be offering rides to the public in the Grapevine Convention Center parking lot. In addition, the Lone Star Hi-Railers will have their baggage car open for ticket holders to see the 65-foot-long layout in a real Barnum Bailey's Baggage Car pulled by a Southern Steam Locomotive in Historic Grapevine Railyard area. Show hours are Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The Lone Star Hi-Railers Model Railroad Association has been located in Grapevine, Texas for more than 16 years and feels strongly that the City is a natural location for model train activities, as the town's focus is on real trains. The Grapevine Vintage Railroad is a strong supporter of the Club. The City of Grapevine gives the Club space in the Visitors Center for an additional model train layout for the public to run trains.
The Grapevine Convention Center is located at 1209 S. Main St., just a block North of the Highway 114/121 enterchange. Parking is free and lodging is close by to the center with renowned restaurants that can be found all ovet the City. The Grapevine Visitors Shuttle will provide free transportation between the TexRail station to the Center and the Lone Star Hi-Railers baggage car layout during show hours.
