Boldly creating new translations and adaptations of beloved stories to make them more accessible to contemporary audiences in Austin, Texas.

The Archive Theater’s mission is to breathe new life into Classical Theater and Literature of the 16th through the 20th centuries. We create new translations and adaptations of beloved stories to make them more accessible to contemporary audiences. We develop exquisitely detailed, extensively researched, and historically informed productions that provide visual context and understanding for the stories we tell to our audience in Austin, Texas.

Our work is interactive, interesting, funny, award-winning, and mostly family-friendly (we give suggested ages for all shows). We perform at Jourdan Bachman Pioneer Farms and at The Austin Scottish Rite Children's Theater. Our list of past performances includes Cyrano de Bergerac (2019), The Man of Destiny (2020), Macbeth (2022), A Sherlock Holmes Christmas (2022), Raven-Winged Hours: An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe (2023).
