Green Dome Project

The Green Dome Project is a nature-based learning program in Southeast Austin where children explore science, art, and sustainability through hands-on outdoor experiences. Nestled along Williamson Creek, our geodesic dome classroom and forest spaces invite curiosity, creativity, and connection with the natural world. We nurture a love for learning by blending play, ecology, and community in a safe, inspiring environment for children ages 4-11.

The Green Dome Project is an innovative nature-based learning program in Southeast Austin designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world. Set on 3.4 acres along Williamson Creek, our outdoor classrooms, gardens, and forest trails offer children ages 4–12 the freedom to learn through exploration and play. Each day unfolds with hands-on projects in science, art, and sustainability—building circuits, tending the garden, creating nature journals, or discovering local wildlife.

Our geodesic dome classroom serves as both a gathering place and a living laboratory, where students connect lessons in ecology, engineering, and storytelling. Inspired by forest school principles and aligned with Texas education standards, our program balances academic enrichment with social-emotional growth and outdoor adventure. Children learn to collaborate, take healthy risks, and develop resilience while climbing trees, cooking over campfires, or mapping creek ecosystems.

Families are welcomed as partners in this learning journey, joining seasonal celebrations, potlucks, and community service projects that strengthen the bond between home and land. The Green Dome Project’s mission is to cultivate stewardship, creativity, and wonder—nurturing the next generation of innovators and caretakers. Here, every day is an opportunity to reconnect with nature, community, and the joy of learning that lasts a lifetime.
